February 21st - 25th
It was Oscar time in my household this week. Every year we have a big party with all our friends, we eat, drink, bet money and drink some more. It's AWESOME. It's also a big deal that takes a lot of effort to pull-off. Hence, my absence from posting the past few days.
What Martha did:
Thursday:
- Food Network South Beach Food & Wine Festival (SOBE) starts
Friday:
- Brother George’s birthday
Saturday:
- SOBE demonstration
- Dinner honoring Nobu Matsuhisa and Christophe Navarre
Sunday:
- Miami
Monday:
- Take inventory of potting soils and mixes; order more if needed
I have so much to say. This is why I can't store these up for five days!!
From the SOBE website regarding the dinner on Saturday: Serving as Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening will be Martha Stewart. Stewart is a past SOBEWFF Tribute Brunch honoree. She is a domestic goddess whose knack for entertaining, educating and making people smile has given this domestic goddess a culinary empire unmatched by anybody.
Ooooooooh, the MISTRESS of ceremonies - sounds hot! I hope she wore her "Motha" costume and fluttered around the dinner like a good hostess.
Here’s what happened here as I prepared to be the mistress of ceremonies at the Oscar party...
Thursday:
I worked all day and then went out for dinner with Dave, Lucy and my parents. We went to Islands, YUM. I meant to take a picture of the never-ending French fries, except I couldn’t stop eating the never-ending French fries.
Friday:
MIGRAINE!
Saturday:
Oscar party go time. I cleaned like a Martha on steroids, shopped for food, picked up the ballots and scoreboard and took a break for some painting...
Sunday:
MORE cleaning, decorating the house and prepping the food...
And then it was time for the show!
Seth MacFarlane was surprisingly really good.
I didn't think the Academy would give it up to Argo, that really ruined my chance of winning any money.
I was shocked (and stoked!) they chose Quentin Tarantino.
Channing Tatum showed up!
And I almost cried watching a very humbled and shocked Christoph Waltz was accepting his Oscar.
Another main event at our annual party is the Guac Off. Winners are chosen based on the categories of taste, presentation and originality. We won for presentation...
Phillip Seymour Guacmann won for taste, originality and overall score. Brilliant.
Another great party with my homies.
Monday:
I took the day off to clean and then got to see Lucy's dance class perform. Adorable!!
Here's a snapshot from after the class...
I can't believe this is my last week doing this project!! Hope it's a good one :)
